FILM AND PHOTO SHOOT PERMIT MANAGEMENT
The Office of Cultural Affairs oversees the permitting process for motion picture, television, and still photographic projects in the City of Charleston. The purpose for this process is to allow for a smooth production by serving as an interface between production companies and various agencies which would be concerned, and at the same time to minimize the impact of these activities on our residents and businesses. Please see the attached informational form which is designed to provide us with the preliminary information necessary for us to begin the process with you. For commercial filming and videotaping activities on public property or on the public right-of-way, there may be a fee of $200 per day of shooting. For commercial still or photographic activities, the fee may be $100 per day of shooting, both contingent on projected impact.
In addition we require a certificate of insurance naming the City of Charleston and State of South Carolina as additional insured for a minimum amount of $1,000,000.00. We will work very closely with our residents and businesses, as well as other government agencies and offices. Other agencies or offices may require additional deposits, or bonds, to cover the costs of any needed remediation, upon the conclusion of the activity.
We are pleased that you are considering Charleston as the location for your project, and we look forward to working with you to make it a most successful one.
