Sea Turtle Rescue Program Intern - South Carolina Aquarium

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Intern duties consist of care and maintenance of sea turtle patients including daily observations, assisting with routine medical exams, and providing environmental enrichment; diet preparation and feeding; maintenance of holding tanks includes daily cleaning and maintaining filtration systems; general cleaning and upkeep of the entire hospital area including stocking medical supplies; maintain detailed records and log books; assist with guided tours of Turtle Hospital to school groups and regularly scheduled tours; help with public outreach at off-site locations; assist in miscellaneous projects. Applicants must be able to work independently and be willing to take initiative on projects and the day to day maintenance of the animals and facility; must be comfortable working with the public; be detail oriented, be able to lift 50 pounds; and must be willing to work flexible hours. This job can require long days, weekend shifts, as well as some late night and early morning work.

HOURS/DAYS: 20 hours per week minimum for 12 weeks

CLASSIFICATION: Sophomore, Junior, Senior preferred

MAJOR: Any major in Natural Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)

RATE OF PAY: Unpaid; possible eligible for college credit
