WEB AND SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN - THE SOUTHERN ALLIANCE FOR CLEAN ENERGY
The Southern Alliance for Clean Energy is accepting applications to work with our Southeast Coastal Organizer based in Charleston, SC. The intern would work to develop web and social media content to educate and mobilize Southeastern citizens to support a clean energy future. The intern will be responsible for keeping a sister website related to energy and climate up-to-date.
The intern will utilize social media outlets such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, blogs, etc. to highlight the risks of nuclear power and the benefits of true renewable energy such as wind, solar and biomass. The intern will receive all training, guidance and support from the Southeast Coastal Organizer and other staff of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy. This internship would be a great way to get plugged into climate and energy issues in our region.
QUALIFICATIONS/SCHEDULE:
Duties will include:
- Managing a related campaign website: updating content, streamlining
information, enhancing usage and user appeal, tracking Google analytics on
site visitation stats, etc.
- Developing online outreach materials
- Monitoring news and blogs relevant to nuclear and clean energy in the
Southeast to post on sister-website
- Aiding in e-organizing (online videos, social networks, and use of new media)
• Aiding in the planning and execution of actions to further campaign goals
Qualifications for the internship include:
- Webpage creation/editing experience a must (html code not essential, but
desired)
- Experience with social media outlets
- Online organizing experience helpful
- Previous educational experience, especially around energy and environment
issues is a plus
- Must be hard working, passionate about social and environmental change
and can work independently
Intern will work 10 hours a week (depending on availability), for at least 12 weeks. Southern Alliance for Clean Energy is an equal opportunity employer.
