Temporary Administrative Assistant - Avery Research Center
JOB TYPE: Temporary
RATE OF PAY: $15.00 / hour; 35-40 hours per week

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides administrative and staff support for the Avery Research Center and is supervised by the Interim Director of the Center. Greets and directs visitors, answers and fields telephone calls; responds to direct questions for information and/or forwards messages to appropriate staff. Serves as recording secretary for weekly staff and other meetings; prepares action minutes. Performs general office duties such including filing, ordering supplies, faxing, etc. Coordinates materials for meetings, training sessions and other Avery activities. Assists in the writing of event press releases and contacting local media news outlets with upcoming events. Writes thank you notes and short letters to patrons. Maintains Center’s staff calendar and master calendar in-house meetings; prepares meeting agendas. Maintains supply inventory and its storage. Maintains and updates mailing and email address databases as needed. Assists in bulk mailing. Maintains records and documents for all programs. Assists in the updating of Avery’s website. Ensures administrative office is kept in orderly and clean fashion.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree and minimum one year office administrative support experience is preferred. Experience working with multicultural populations necessary. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills (oral and written) and the ability to excel at details, multi-tasking and working under pressure. Requires extensive computer software experience using Outlook, MS Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint.
